Thames Water is the UK’s largest water and wastewater company. We make a daily difference to millions of customers by supplying 2.7 billion litres of world-class water to around 10 million homes.
As our world changes, the need to take care of our most precious resource is greater than ever, both locally and globally. That’s why, at Thames Water, every one of our actions, big and small, matters every day. Water is essential to daily life, and that means our business is always open. We’re passionate about providing world-class tap water, now and for the future.
We’re also turning waste into power, self-generating 20% of the energy we use and, in turn, doing our bit for the planet. We’re reducing plastic waste by celebrating our tap water and rolling out an ambitious water fountain project. We’re using our voice to lobby for change and partnering with WaterAid to provide clean water to the world’s poorest communities.
Together, we’re building a better future for our customers, our region and our planet.
Thames Water is a unique, rewarding and diverse place to work. If you join our team, you’ll enjoy fast-tracked career opportunities, flexible working arrangements and unparalleled benefits. We’re also proud to be an equal opportunity employer, Stonewall Diversity Champion and Disability Confident Leader, welcoming individuals from all walks of life and leading the way with award-winning mental health and well-being strategy.
Our Future Leaders graduate programme offers development across specific areas of our business, backed up by on-the-job role placements.
We have specific pathways in Operations, Scientific Services, Engineering, Finance, Digital and Asset Management. You’ll based at one of our treatment works or offices anywhere in our patch from Swindon in the west to Dartford in the east and anywhere in between.
For our general leadership programmes, we accept all degree disciplines. For specialised programmes, you’ll need a relevant degree with a minimum grade of 2:2 (or be on track to achieve this grade).
Our graduate programmes run for two to three years, depending on the pathway you choose. We'll support you throughout to gain the knowledge, skills and experience to succeed and progress as a brilliant leader.
What we look for in our graduates:
As well as showing you're driven and eager to learn on the job, there are a few things you can do during the application process that may help you stand out from the crowd. Make it clear you understand the programme and development on offer and tell us why you’d love to join our team. See what we're up to on social media and look at some of the community projects we’ve been involved in. Research can go a long way!
We seek to attract, develop, reward and retain a mix of colleagues who offer different but complementary beliefs, talents and knowledge. We understand the importance of appreciating and harnessing the unique skills and backgrounds that each individual brings to our family. We're proud to be a Disability Confident employer and Stonewall LGBT+ diversity champion.
