It all started way back in 1869, on London’s Drury Lane.

Mary and John Sainsbury opened their small, independent store with a dream to not only do things differently – but better than anyone else. While their competitors sold watered-down dairy from cooped up city cows, Mary and John sourced theirs elsewhere. They took pride in selling fresh milk from happy herds raised on the green grass and clean air of the countryside.

Today, we’re the UK’s second largest retailer, with over 1400 stores and a huge online presence. Our slogan has changed and the appearance of our stores has altered. But our passion for being the best remains just as strong.

And we’re constantly finding new ways to better serve our customers. Our brands are constantly trying to improve customer experience, from creating more convenient financial services through Sainsbury’s Bank, to combining with Argos, one of the UK’s leading digital retailers.

We’re offering more online and in store than ever before. Smarter, greener, more affordable choices. And products that bring real joy.

So what’s it like working at Sainsbury’s? Well, get on board and you’ll find that opportunities come thick and fast. Sainsbury’s values and culture are at the heart of everything we do.

If you join us, you’ll be part of a team working together, bringing new ideas, to create the best experience for customers and colleagues. You’ll also find an inclusive environment that values community, and your contribution to it. Don’t just take it from us, hear from our colleagues and their individual experiences while working at Sainsbury’s. What’s more, our benefits are comprehensive and competitive, so you can find the right balance between the work you love and the things you love.

Lend a hand, lead an industry, break the mould. Become the best you that you can be, in a role you enjoy.
