Meet Katherine, Actuarial Consultant

The internship was a fantastic insight into life at WTW; we were continually challenged and everyone was always happy to take the time to explain work and deeper concepts to you. Experiencing the collaborative work culture and social atmosphere made it an easy decision to accept a place on the graduate programme.

Additionally, I wanted the chance to work in a large office, outside of London. The Reigate office offers the perfect opportunity to work with some of the largest pension schemes in the UK, without the need to live in a city or make a long, crowded commute. WTW has offices all around the country, so there is sure to be a location that suits you!

What type of work have you been involved in?

From my first day at WTW I have been working on clients that are household names, which provides a huge variety of exciting work and opportunities; it is exceptionally rewarding to contribute to complex projects for some of the largest pension schemes in the UK. Equally, I have especially enjoyed being given opportunities to take the lead on tasks and find efficiencies and solutions to help our clients.

What training and opportunities does WTW offer?

In addition to a very competitive study support package, I have been really impressed with the level of internal training that is provided by WTW, both on the graduate scheme and beyond. As a large actuarial employer, we also have a well-established graduate programme, providing training in technical and consulting skills both within our office and on a national level, which is a great opportunity for networking. Joining a company as part of a large graduate intake, means we have a wide network to support each other. This is especially helpful when sitting the actuarial exams as there is always likely to be someone taking the same subject as you. A particular highlight is the opportunity to go on rotation or secondment to other parts of the business. The global nature of WTW in multiple different business areas means there are endless opportunities on offer within our company allowing you to shape your career the way you want it, working with or moving between many different teams in offices worldwide.
