We understand that investing in and nurturing great people is key to our future success – and to your future success, too. GWI offers motivated individuals with great potential a chance to advance in our organisation. Many of our managers and members of our leadership team have climbed the ladder within GWI, because we support everyone to reach their career goals, genuinely listen to their ideas and help them to grow dynamically. We always get the best out of the people that we have – and when we find the right people, we make it our business to keep them.
We welcome applicants with an academic or professional background in the water industry; however,
you do not need to have previous experience in the water sector to apply for a role at GWI.
Many of our team, including researchers, do not have an academic background in the water sector but demonstrated the key skills and values we look for:
A passion and curiosity for learning
An enthusiasm for working with a diverse team
A commitment to growth
Once you are hired, we will provide you with job-specific training, and your line manager(s) will support you in developing the skills and knowledge to succeed in your role.
Who We Are
With around 80 employees based both in beautiful Oxford and internationally, and clients located around the world, we are both small and global. Our company culture reflects this: around 35% of our staff don’t come from the UK, and we frequently travel for work.

We believe in work-life balance: we are hard workers who pull together to lighten the load, with an increasing focus on cross-team collaboration. We also provide an Employee Assistance Programme with services such as a wellbeing portal, counselling and legal advice, we hold biannual social events for staff, and dependent on the job role, staff have opportunities to travel.
We value the practical and the idealistic: we are passionately committed to addressing the world’s water challenges, but we can only continue to have an impact because we are a successful business.
We are proud of our company culture, which is fostered by our core values:
What do we do?
We are an ambitious young company that has firmly established itself in the water industry. We are a business information publisher, offering marketing intelligence platforms, whitepapers and our flagship GWI Magazine. We also run a series of successful events that are attended by delegates at the highest level of their profession and attract respected speakers such as Erin Brockovich and Christiana Figueres. We constantly strive to transform and improve both our own business and the wider industry.
Over the last 20 years, we have built our business around being a trusted interface between our clients and their markets, providing our customers with high-level intelligence that enables them to make informed, strategic decisions for their business. We have developed our products and services to cover all key segments of the international water sector, including desalination and reuse, finance, digital solutions, utilities and industrial water.
We have retained our reputation as the unchallenged market-leader because we are never complacent about our position and our relationships with our clients. We’re passionate about our standing as the interface between our customers and their markets. We are innovators. Improving and developing how we do business is always on the top of our agenda.
Our teams include research, marketing, sales and customer success, data, design, programming, IT, database, operations and events; we collaborate across teams every day to bring GWI’s products and services to our clients.

Recruitment Process
The recruitment process is a chance for us to get to know you and learn more about your strengths and passions. The process differs between teams; however, recruitment typically consists of the following stages:
Stage 1: Application (CV and cover letter)
These should show us your experience and your motivation for applying to GWI. We want to hear what drives you and why you want to join our team. We encourage you to tailor your CV and cover letter to the role you are applying for.
Stage 2: Skills assessment
A short, role-specific assessment will give you the opportunity to engage with a task you might encounter in your role and help our hiring managers assess your strengths. This stage of the process is also designed to give you an idea of the work you might do in the role if you are hired, so you can determine if the task is something you would enjoy.
Stage 3: First round interview
You will meet the hiring manager and one or two additional members of our team, who are keen to learn more details about your experience, talk through your skills assessment, and discover more about why you want to work at GWI.
Stage 4: Second round interview
If we feel that we need more information to make our decision, then we may ask you to attend a second interview with different members of our team. This will be another opportunity for you to learn about our business and for us to get to know you better.
Stage 5: Offer
If you are successful after these stages, we will offer you the position and hopefully look forward to welcoming you to our team.
