Placement

Work alongside a huge range of unique and inquisitive minds as you prepare the world of audit for the digital takeover. And embark on a career journey you can own, shape and grow.

“I'm involved in client work from planning through to delivery, I've built invaluable skills, and started my professional qualification. But for me, what makes EY truly unique is the people. It's been an amazing experience.” – Yan Kang, Assurance Industrial Placement

About the programme

As a member of our team, you’ll experience the EY digital audit. And you’ll get hands-on face-to-face exposure to big clients and the unique challenges they face. We’re the only firm that gives you this kind of tech-first, client-facing approach to audit – and at such a global scale.

This is your opportunity to give businesses, from start-ups to governments, confidence in how they manage their accounts. One day, you could be on site with a client, building key relationships, the next, you could be crafting long-lasting business strategies. It’s a dynamic programme that prepares you for your future. And enables you to sit at the very cutting edge of business – helping us build a better world as you build a varied career.

What will you be doing?

  • Getting to know our clients, their businesses and how they work.
  • Testing checks and balances to ensure they work how they’re supposed to.
  • Analysing the data that goes into a financial statement to make sure it is true and fair.
  • Helping businesses publish reliable financial accounts as you lay the foundations for your career.
  • Using hybrid working to spend time on client sites, in the office and at home
  • Having a dedicated careers counsellor throughout the programme to help you during busier seasons, development and learning

How is it structured?

Get started on real client projects from day one. And embark on a unique experience that balances world-class audit education with technological know-how. Throughout your time on the placement, you’ll collaborate across business areas, working on a huge variety of challenges that will push you to develop skills in data analysis, communication, problem solving, strategy building, economic impact and more. Plus, you’ll never be alone as you take on these fresh challenges – our leaders and colleagues are here for you at every step.

By the end of the placement, you’ll have a head start on your ICAEW (England) or ICAS (Scotland) audit qualifications and a better idea of what to expect if you choose a career in Assurance. Best of all, if you do a great job, you may be offered a place on the Assurance Graduate Programme.

Across your one-year placement, dive into a variety of activities that will see you pick up brand-new skills, develop your strengths and prepare for tomorrow. Enjoy programme-specific client work, the chance to complete a qualification and even regular lunch and learns – plus get paid for the experience.

As well as contributing to client projects, take on extra learning opportunities that broaden your experience in business, leadership and technology. Why not check out online learning hub too? We host a whole library of training courses on a vast number of topics. So, have a browse and start learning.

Another great EY perk? We offer community days – meaning you can get hands on locally while raising money for the EY Foundation. What’s more, our offices are social hubs fuelled by community spirit. Network, get to know your fellow interns and have fun!

No matter which area you join, the support we offer never wavers. Pair up with a buddy, get career advice from one of our counsellors, and say hello to our early careers team. Everyone is here to give you the best start to your future – so get ready to thrive.

From implementing digital approaches into our global audit methodology to processing millions of transactions into visual analytics solutions, innovation and technology are at the heart of this programme.
