3rd Seat Trainee

Ashurst LLP

I'm halfway through my training contract and so far I have completed seats in Dispute Resolution and Global Loans. Next week I'm starting my third seat in Real Estate and I can honestly say that I've really enjoyed it so far. A training contract at any city firm is going to be challenging, but Ashurst's training and support ensures that you get the most out of it. Across the top firms you're also going to get great clients and exposure to high level work. However, in my opinion Ashurst stands out for two reasons. Firstly, the firm doesn't pigeonhole you into a niche subgroup early on in your career. A lot of the departments are quite generalist which means that you get a bigger spread of work to decide what you like and excel at the most. Secondly, my favourite thing about the firm is definitely its culture - firms always talk about how their culture is great but it's hard to know what it's really like until you join. Ashurst is definitely less hierarchical than your traditional city firm and almost everyone is supportive and up for socialising both in and outside of the office which makes it a much more enjoyable working atmosphere.
